The International Association of Professional Bicycle Mechanics (AIMPB) continues to strengthen its international presence with the appointment of Gonzalo Olivo Isch as AIMPB Director for Chile.
In this role, Gonzalo will serve as the Association’s institutional representative in the country, helping develop relationships with professional mechanics, workshops, companies, brands and organizations within the bicycle industry, while supporting the implementation of AIMPB’s different international programs and initiatives.
Technical, sporting and business experience
Gonzalo is the founder of BikeFix Chile, a former high-performance athlete and a coach certified by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in Aigle, Switzerland.
His cycling experience is complemented by his background as an Automotive Mechanical Engineer and his specialization as a bicycle mechanic, with technical training through internationally recognized organizations and brands including Park Tool School, Shimano Latin America and SRAM Technical University (STU).
Through BikeFix, he has developed a professional career connected to specialized bicycle technical service, support for athletes and relationships with different stakeholders across the cycling industry.
An open representation model for Chile
Gonzalo’s appointment is part of AIMPB’s new international structure, based on a clear separation between institutional representation, technical education and professional certification.
AIMPB representation in a country is not exclusively linked to any school, company or brand. Its purpose is to build bridges between different industry stakeholders and contribute to the development of an increasingly professional, collaborative and independent technical community.
As AIMPB Director for Chile, Gonzalo’s objectives will include strengthening the Association’s presence in the country, expanding relationships with the bicycle industry, bringing new professionals and organizations into the AIMPB ecosystem, and contributing to initiatives aimed at advancing professional bicycle mechanics.
Chile will take center stage at the next AIMPB Congress
One of the first initiatives in which Gonzalo will play an active role will be the organization of the upcoming AIMPB International Congress in Santiago, Chile.
The AIMPB Chile Directorate will work alongside the Association’s Presidency to engage brands, companies, professionals and industry organizations, with the goal of creating an event where technical development, knowledge exchange and direct interaction between mechanics and the bicycle industry take center stage.
The Congress will provide participating companies with the opportunity to engage directly with the professional community, present technologies and products, and deliver technical conferences aimed at mechanics and workshops.
A new chapter for AIMPB in Chile
Gonzalo Olivo’s appointment to the Association’s international structure represents another step toward consolidating an independent, international AIMPB that is open to participation from different stakeholders across the bicycle industry.
Chile has an important community of bicycle mechanics, workshops, companies and cycling professionals. The new AIMPB Chile Directorate will seek to bring these stakeholders together and create opportunities for cooperation around common objectives: continuing education, technological development, professional standards, best practices and greater recognition of the bicycle mechanic profession.
“Professionalizing bicycle mechanics requires building a community and connecting those who share the same vision. Gonzalo’s experience, his knowledge of the Chilean market and his relationship with the industry will be extremely valuable for this new chapter of AIMPB in Chile.”
